oil lamp recipe
– 200 g butter or margarine
– ½ cup of yogurt
– 2 teaspoons of baking powder
– 1 egg yolk
– 1 egg white
– 1 teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon of sugar
– 2.5 cups of flour
– 1 teaspoon mahleb
– Quarter cup of sesame seeds
– Quarter cup of black cumin seeds
Take margarine, egg yolk, yoghurt, salt and sugar in a bowl and knead until all the ingredients are combined. Then add mahaleb, baking powder and flour.
Keep kneading until it becomes a smooth dough. Take walnut-sized pieces from the dough and stretch them into sticks and join the ends.
Dip it first in egg white, then in sesame or black cumin and place it on the baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 15 minutes and serve on a wire rack to cool.
