For this low-carb recipe, we’ll be cooking onion rings instead of using the traditional deep-frying method. So get ready to enjoy a delicious and nutritious appetizer!
Baked onion rings recipe
– 2 medium onions
– 3/4 cup flour
– 2 teaspoons of baking powder
– 3 eggs
– 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
– Olive oil
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
Preheat the oven to 230 degrees and coat the baking trays with olive oil. Peel the outer skin of the onions, cut off both ends, slice into ring-shaped slices 1 cm thick. Put the rings in a bowl and add cold water to it.
Combine the flour and baking powder and whisk the eggs in a separate bowl. In another bowl, add the breadcrumbs and season with salt, pepper and turmeric.
Take one ring at a time, remove from water and coat with flour. Then dip the ring in the egg batter and dip in the breadcrumbs. Don’t forget to shake off any excess water, egg or breadcrumbs from the onion rings.
Repeat for all onion rings and place them on the baking tray. Brush them with olive oil, then bake for 10 minutes and turn each onion ring. Bake for 10 or more until you see a golden brown color and a crispy texture.
