ARK fans will wait much longer than expected for the sequel featuring Vin Diesel. Studio Wildcard announced that it has delayed the ARK 2 release date to late 2024. At the same time, the studio announced that it is working on a remake of the first game.
Speaking about the lag, officials say they need more time to become familiar with Unreal Engine 5’s tools and “aim to use this cutting-edge technology to its full potential while creating a game with never-before-reached scope in Studio Wildcard.
ARK 2 will also feature a major departure from the series’ survival sandbox, with “Soulslike combat, only primitive weapons and tight third-person mechanics.” That’s why Wildcard is also developing the ARK: Survival Ascended remake of ARK: Survival Evolved to not leave fans of the original game behind.
The remake offers major visual and performance upgrades thanks to an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, with cross-platform multiplayer and console mod support confirmed. The company will shut down the original game’s official servers in August to prepare for this release, but players will still be able to play the role-playing game on single-player and player-hosted servers.
ARK: Survival Ascended will be released for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 at the end of August.
